The Long-Term Care Facilities Outbreak Task Force works directly with LTCFs, skilled nursing facilities, residential care facilities for the elderly (RCFE), adult residential facilities (ARF), and licensed assisted living facilities to prevent and contain outbreaks.

The Task Force outreach team helps LTCFs across Alameda County prepare their facilities with the education and guidance necessary to prevent new outbreaks of COVID-19. When a facility reports a positive case (or 2+ suspected cases) in either staff or resident, a public health nurse on our Task Force outbreak team is assigned. In addition to providing detailed guidance on our Outbreak Control Recommendations, the outbreak team monitors daily for new or suspected cases.

Our nurses work to help facility staff take critical steps necessary to prevent or reduce transmission.  We partner with State and local allies to support mass testing, facilitate resource requests, and perform onsite infection control assessments. The LTCF team works closely with the Alameda County Public Health case and contact teams that investigate every COVID-19 case.
