Just tested positive for COVID-19?
There are prescription medications that can help prevent serious illness. Remember to act quickly! Most COVID-19 medications must be started within the first 5 days of symptoms. For more information about COVID-19 treatments, please visit the CDPH COVID-19 Treatments webpage.People who are more likely to get very sick from COVID-19 include:
- older adults (ages 50 years or older)
- people who are unvaccinated
- people with certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, chronic lung disease, heart disease, or a weakened immune system.
Contact your Healthcare Provider as soon as you test positive. If you are uninsured, have high co-pays or can’t reach your provider, try one of the following options:
- Visit acphd.org/chdp/health-insurance/ to learn more about how to sign up for health insurance or treatments.hhs.gov/ to find COVID-19 treatment near you.
- If you have Medicaid, Medi-Cal or are uninsured, you may qualify for a patient assistance program to get the medication free of charge. If you have private insurance, you may be able to get help with the co-pay.
- You can learn more about the programs for Paxlovid at paxlovid.com/paxcess and for Lagevrio (molnupiravir) at Merckhelps.com.
