Project Roomkey

Project Roomkey hotels provide temporary housing for unsheltered residents as part of the emergency response for COVID-19. The program will soon be winding down in Alameda County and transition plans are underway.

As of November 1, 2020, referrals are no longer being accepted for Project Roomkey and no additional guests will be placed in the Project Roomkey hotel or other temporary sites.

​Operation Comfort, short-term isolation/quarantine housing for symptomatic or COVID-19 infected people experiencing homelessness, will be continuing operations for the foreseeable future for those with a positive COVID-19 test, active symptoms of COVID-19, or those who have had close contact to someone with COVID-19.

A list of approved referral agencies, including hospitals, acute care facilities, clinics, emergency shelters, and homeless outreach teams throughout the county can assist with the referral process for Operation Comfort.

Here are two checklists (for clients and annotated for providers) that referral providers can use when referring a guest into Operation Comfort.
